Moon’s Mountain

Moon’s Mountain*

*A collaboration with Carol from WritersDream9.Wordpress.com

Carol is a skilled poet who excels at crafting haikus, haibuns and tankas that read like a Japanese master penned them. She also creates short fiction, longer poems and haigas of breath-stealing breadth and beauty.

Come walk with us under the moon, up a mountain path into nature’s magic.

Majestic fortress
Snowcapped with white purity
Kisses the blue sky

Snow-crowned peak sparkling
My tears like diamonds falling
Freezing on my skin

Moon touches the peak
Silver light on its pine skirt
Alpine wonderland

The wind blows gently
As I shiver from its strength
My heart longs to climb

virgin snow crunches
A wolf howls in the distance
Nature’s symphony

I dance twirling round
Moving to howls and wind song
Dancing with shadows

Dusk casts its shadows
Blue fingers coaxing the night
dropping its cold veils

I am not afraid
As I embrace the darkness
Put my fears away

Above the stars shine
One streaks across the heavens
A flash of brilliance

A mote in God’s eye
Comets carry my wish hence
Fueled by my desire

Clouds scud past the peak
Hurrying to far mountains
Leaving wind behind

I stay in the snow
Making my way higher
Determined in joy

The jagged peak
Kisses the sky tenderly
The sky responds

Heaven erupted
Gems litter the dark’ning sky
I lie back and sigh

  1. You both are among my favourite writers on WP and this is beautiful collaboration. I hope you get to write together more often 🙂

    1. It is a lot of fun, for sure. You are far more capable than I am to keep up with them all and I commend you for that.

    2. Yes it is, but I just realized, I will be the one doing the carrying as I am a few pounds heavier than you are 😀 😀

    4. Hahaha! Hahahahaha! Imagining you peeling yourself off the floor!!! Priceless! Actually, now that I think about it, I had to do this far too often in my early university days. 😉

    5. every time i fall down, I have to peel myself off the pavement 🙂 Texting and walking causes skinned knees and banged chins because you have to protect the phone, you know. skin regrows but phone screen cracks don’t heal.

    6. Hahaha, this is hilarious. Melinda, Melinda, ‘phone screen cracks’ don’t heal and at $500 plus per phone, one can only afford so many 🙂 BTW, this is the reason why I do not own a cell phone 🙂

    7. aha! You do have some tech. I’ll bet you have an ipad squirreled away. I even have one and I don’t like the damned thing! (My company gave it to me for testing so I stopped borrowing my coworkers’ ipads)

  2. And these are two stanzas caught my eye and my imagination:
    “I dance twirling round
Moving to howls and wind song
    Dancing with shadows

    Dusk casts its shadows
    Blue fingers coaxing the night
    dropping its cold veils”
