Daring: Emotional ABCs

ABCs of Emotion: Daring

Lips painted ruby
glue fake lashes with sparkles
applique a tear

Fluff out hot pink hair
roll mini-skirt to show buns
step into spike heels

Ready to hit the strip, neon lights buzz
casino’s in full swing, queens and jacks high
slot machine’s chime, she sashays by abuzz
she doesn’t stop to try, her eyes seek night sky.
Push through doors, step onto catwalk, balance
laughing as she strides, heels in perfect line.
Jump across the gap, land in crouch, Lance’s
hid from prying eyes, penthouse suite find
scan the area, the door locks tumble,
no alarm was tripped, pad quick on cat feet,
out open window, climb ledge, don’t stumble.
Stand on neon sign, trace letters with feet.
Twirl ’round on high, neon’s warm ‘neath soles
in security’s eyes, capture’s the goal.

The trap door rises
security comes with cuffs
time to end her fun

Trill of laughter flies
as she falls, parachute caught
wind carries her clear

Game over for now
maybe you’ll catch her next time
security guy

I think I just cleaved a sonnet. Not sure you’re supposed to do that. Oh well, it just sort of happened  and it’s pretty cool, don’t you think?

    1. Thank you 🙂 It’s your fault you know. I wrote this after reading your cleave and I had the form buzzing around my head. I had half the poem written by time I realized it was cleaved! 😀 😀 😀

    2. Oh, now you’re putting the pressure on. My site, your poetic fix. Goodness. You’re too kind. I need more than a million pigeons to speed me up now.
