Medusa

Medusa

She guards Underworld
snake haired, serpent tailed, woman
dread of mortal men

Reviled Medusa
she lacquers her nails dove gray
listens to the patter

Tears of the dead rain
Chrysalism hugs her tight
smile plays with fangs

One month more to go
pats impregnated belly
not sorry he turned

fell for tricks, looked back
sent his dead bride back to hell
found comfort in her

no second chances
one trie’s all Orpheus got
Surprised he got one

Hades going soft
influence of his woman
her pleas bought that chance

Gone now and ill spent
just a photo left to tell
of a light burned out

A life sparse lived
now gone to hell and punishment
all because he looked

He won’t leave without
can’t leave with, his chance’s blown
so he stays in hell

Fools around with guards
gets Medusa with his child
silly mortal man

She’d turn him to stone
before she’d let him escape
she guards Underworld.

  1. Awesome, Melinda! I am a mythology fan, too and this is perfect. I love all of this but listening to the patter of dead rain – wow!!

    1. thank you 🙂 Brain is happy that its efforts are being realized. The entity known as Melinda is not always kind to the Brain. The Brain is making me type this so it is on public record. 😉 lol!

  2. Give you any word prompt and you’d turn it into something as whimsical as this. No wonder we always go on an adventure every time we chat. You got me thinking about crossing the continents and seas in a wicker basket carried by a million pigeons. Tell me whose fault that is now? 😀

    1. ah I can’t help working hard. I love blogging. I hope to make some kind of career out of it or because of it or due to something that grows out of it. I am open to anything as you can see 🙂
