Judged: Emotional ABCs

Judged: Emotional ABCs

Take off those black robes
set down that gavel, listen
your judgment’s unsound

Society’s a jail
conformity’s not for me
I need to be free

Pencil skirts? No fucking way, not this bod.
Sling back heels clickity-clack, thanks I’ll pass.
Sheer panty hose, not intended by God
to clad these thighs, no way, I’ll take pants–fast.
Give me sneakers and comfy hoodies, fool.
I don’t do corporate dress or display tits.
No tight dresses, comfortable is cool
I don’t care if it’s not pretty–it fits!
Can you say the same of your corp’rate duds?
I didn’t  think so; envy is in your eyes
but you’re too weak to buck the system, bud.
Crawl back to your desk on your belly, lie
low and you won’t be called on the carpet.
Thanks for the warning pal, but my mind’s set.

Rings on my fingers
metal hoops march up my ears
I make fashion mine

Conform if you wish
judge me at your own peril
I’ve got a lawyer.

This is a work of fiction 🙂

  1. I hope that posterity will judge me kindly, not only as to the things which I have explained, but also to those which I have intentionally omitted so as to leave to others the pleasure of discovery.

    ~Rene Descartes

People can judge me for what I’ve done. And I think when somebody’s out in the public eye, that’s what they do. So I’m fully comfortable with who I am, what I stand for, and what I’ve always stood for.

  2. Haha!! The fiercess of this poem and that last stanza is the BAM!! 😀 Fiction or not, this is AWESOME, Mel!
I hope I can say these too:
    “Rings on my fingers
metal hoops march up my ears
    I make fashion mine”

  3. Right on!! I am with you in many levels. Free from judgement is the best place to live. The expectations society tries to shackle us with, are the biggest mistake. You rock girl! 🙂

    1. Oh yes! Tag me plz. With work, kids, a home and a hubby, I don’t always have as much time as I wish to read, but I love reading your words!

    2. I will tag you when I get to it. It will probably be a letter poem. I can’t seem to juggle writing story posts and two poems per day 🙂 I have the idea noted and half the alphabet left to write pieces for 🙂
