Paradigm | Emotional ABCs

Paradigm | Emotional ABCs

Change the paradigm
go recalculate the odds
new scenario.

What ifs, could have beens
now all blended together
mashed in a new view.

Change the paradigm, change the outcome, mind
over matter, smoke screens the danger, change
the view, alter the scenario, find
the frame where you’re free, shut the cell door, range
far while you can, red lights flash, enemy’s
got his guns ready to blast me away
soon as I break cover, rifles bark three
times as I lay flat, gravels digs its way
into my belly but I wait and watch
find the right time to change the paradigm
change the game and the odds for this bad match
I see my chance and take it, buying time.
Into the brush I dive, roll down the slope.
I see a car waiting and there’s still hope.

Paradigm spins round
a coin balanced on its edge
heads up and I win.

Slap the coin down
bullet crashes through windshield
coin slides from dead hand.

    1. well I do share head space with about a hundred characters. Awful crowded inside my skull. There could be a muse in there or all the characters asking for page/screen space could be it. Who knows?

  1. Ooh.. another thought provoking piece, Mel. πŸ™‚ I am moved by these lines:
    “What ifs, could have beens
    now all blended together
    mashed in an new view.”

    A gentle note:
Do you mean ‘ChangE’ on the wonderful sonnet’s first line? I think you missed an ‘e’. πŸ™‚
And with my fave part’s last line, i think “mashed in an new view” you mean “mashed in A new view?”

    I hope you don’t mind my dear. ❀ ❀ ❀
