Book News

Void Spells is done! The story ended and now it’s getting edited. That means you’re one step closer to getting your hands on all the new books!

What books would those be?

• Catch the Scribe*
• Book Battles*
• Rogue Characters*
• (Dragon Spells & Rogue Spells published years ago, but they go here in the reading order, so I listed them for completeness sake.)
• Storm Spells*
• Void Spells*

I know you’ve got lots of questions. Thankfully, I brought answers.

Did we defeat the orbs?

Yes, you’ll have to read the books to find out how.

Will I get a side quest?

No, the book didn’t end in a way for that to be possible. But that’s okay because Melinda will write Curse Breaker Jousts next so I could always get a side quest in that book.

After all, Papa said I can play with my dragon friends at the end of Chasing Dragons. If that’s not a side quest in the making, then I don’t know what is. You have to admit. That has serious side quest potential.

Curse Breaker Jousts isn’t about that so if I can arrange it, that would count as a side quest. I’ll think about how to make that happen later.

Will there be a sequel to Void Spells?

There are some loose ends that we didn’t let our scribe tied up at the end of Void Spells. But the series is complete.

Those loose ends will get handled in two different books!

1. Magical Mayhem Online starring our newest heroine. You meet her at the end of Void Spells. Just don’t tell her that was my idea. She might not enjoy her introduction to our brand of magical mayhem.
2. Magic Leaksanswers the question of did everything merge properly? It takes place on Earth as regular people try to figure what happened in the books listed above.

What merged?

You’ll find out when you read the new books. I won’t spoil that for you.

Are Magical Mayhem Online and Magic Leaks the start of 2 new series or standalone adventures that tie up more loose ends?

We don’t know. That will depend on the characters.

1. Do they want more page time than they can get in just one book?
2. Is there more to discover/resolve than can be done in one book?

The answers to those two questions will determine if they become new series or stay as standalone adventures.

Will I be in them?

That’s my plan. It’s not my scribe’s plan, but we never agree on anything that goes on inside any book she writes. So that’s nothing new.

I haven’t figured out how to get into those books, but I will. Some trickery and some magic will no doubt be involved, and I’ll make sure you have a front row seat for it all!

When will they come out?

No idea. My scribe already decided to write Curse Breaker Jousts, Chaos Reigns, and Chaos in Chains to finish out the Riders of the Apocalypse storyline. Our editorrequested that Melinda write them next, but she planned to do that anyway. In fact, she planned to start those months ago.

We’re weren’t supposed to run off with the plot and squeeze an extra book (Void Spells) out of her. But we did, and I’m not sorry.

Melinda would also like to try to get to a particular plot point in the Curse Breaker series if Papa cooperates. If you’ve read any of the Curse Breaker books, then you know cooperation isn’t one of his skills. But we love him anyway.

While Melinda does that, I’ll figure out how to get into Magic Leaks and Magical Mayhem Online. I will of course push her to write whichever book will give me more page time.

So that’s the current plan. But don’t worry!

Void Spells completes the series so you aren’t left hanging. The loose ends are things we brought up at the end to prolong the book and get more page time and side quests! You know how much we love our side quests.

Think of Magical Mayhem Online and Magic Leaks and side quests that are full books! Because that’s what they are right now. Will they stay side quests or become something more?

We’ll find out together!

And lastly and probably most importantly, Melinda got access to her publisher account on Amazon finally. So we can publish new books to Amazon in the future. It only took 7 weeks. No idea why.

Covers & Sprayed Edges Reveals

Last week, I showed you the edges for Curse Breaker’s Companion Books 1-2. If you missed that, here they are again:

Today, I bring you the final cover design and the edges for Curse Breaker’s Companion Books 3-4, which includes Storm Spells and Void Spells.

But first, I must tell you about the drama that surrounded them. The Newsletter-Dragon didn’t like the cover so she convinced our scribe to use a different dragon image.

But that image wouldn’t work for the foiling because they need the image to be black and white and no shades of gray. So once again, Melinda opened Photoshop and redrew parts of the image to make it black and white.

And now I bring you the final cover:

Then we had to decide on the edges. Originally Melinda wanted to put Dysteria on one side since she causes all the trouble in the series.

But Misriah didn’t like that idea. We don’t have villains decorating any other book.

So I suggested we put Dysteria on the top of the book. On the side of the book, I suggested we put Misriah since she saves us a lot in Storm Spells and Void Spells. So it’s only fair that she appear somewhere on the book.

On the bottom is a spoiler.

It’s a really big one.

But I really want to show you.

Okay I’ll show you.

But I won’t answer any questions about it. You’ll have to read the Void Spells to find out why this character is on the bottom and what role they play in the story.

That’s all I’ve got for you today. The proof copies are ordered so we are one step closer to getting these books into your hands!

The printer estimates that we’ll have the proof copies around the second week of January. (Our fingers are crossed!)

If we don’t need to get another proof copy, then we could launch the Kickstarter either on Jan 12 or 19. It all depends on when we get those books.

We’ll work over the Christmas holiday to get everything else ready, so we can launch it as soon as we have the proof copies and have confirmed that no changes need to be made.
