The dragon is about to fly away

Hey, we’re getting own to the wire! Our kickstarter ends at 8:10 am EST on Feb. 5 because we forgot to set an end time.

You can’t set it beforehand unfortunately, and we were so focused on getting launched before the newsletter went out so that little detail slipped by us.

But we get bonus points for launching the campaign before sending the newsletter, right?

Now’s the time to make your final selections!

Don’t miss 7 fun adventures that will completely distract you from everything going on. Plus, you get the whole story of how we found our Newsletter-Dragon and made her ours and then her betrayal that had world-ending consequences, her fall, and the events that changed her heart and her mind and led to her blockbuster movie redemption arc.

None of that was planned by the way. It just kind of happened, and that’s why the series went from two loosely connected series to one series of very connected books that have different series names.

I apologize for any confusion. That wasn’t the plan at all, but the plot and our dragon demanded it. So what were we supposed to do?

Say no to more story and more adventures? When have we ever done that?

Our Newsletter-Dragon’s redemption arc is the real reason the series went from 6 books to 7. She needed more page time to rise from the ashes of our anger and distrust to become the digital dragon we needed.

We thought about renaming and renumbering the books so they have one series name but thought that might be confusing since we talked about them as separate series for months and two books in the middle of this now 7-book series were previously published as books 1 & 2 of Curse Breaker’s Companion. (I’m talking about Dragon Spells and Rogue Spells.)Of course that was before we discovered they were actually one series for the important plot reasons I mentioned above.

If you read last week’s super spoilery preview, which is the first chapter of Void Spells, then you also know there are two digital dragons.

How did that happen?

The end of Rogue Characters shows how that happened, so I won’t spoil it here. I find out in Storm Spells that there are two digital dragons when me and Papa wound up on an alternative earth in the past before Dysteria corrupted our Newsletter-Dragon.

I would not leave that timeline without the uncorrupted dragon, so I brought her back with us. Would you have done that too?

By the way, this is Ran, Sarn’s son from the Curse Breaker series, and your guide to the fantasy world where I live and adventure.

Although, I am not doing much adventuring in my scribe’s current WIP, Curse Breaker Jousts, but my Papa is. I’d be jealous, but I’m hanging out with dragons while he fights monsters, so I can’t really complain. But I reserve the right to complain later.

Melinda commissioned some art from J.D. Arté, an up-and-coming fantasy artist for Curse Breaker Jousts, and we’d like to commission some more art.

If you need some cozy stories where things go epicly wrong, but somehow turn out all right after we go to extraordinary lengths to fix the problem, then I recommend Tales of a Curse Breaker in NY Books 1-3 (Catch the Scribe, Book Battles, & Rogue Characters) and Curse Breaker’s Companion Books 1-2 (Dragon Spells & Rogue Spells) & Curse Breaker’s Companion Books 3-4 (Storm Spells & Void Spells) in your favorite format.

The hardcovers feature all-new art never before seen. Some art Melinda created in 2018 before we knew there would be flying books or that we’d have to ride them. And they are very shiny since everything on the cover is gold foil.

We also have paperbacks, and you can get all 7 paperbacks PLUS all 7 ebooks for $85 plus shipping.

Melinda worked with the publisher to get the best price. I don’t know if we’ll be able to offer that bundle at the same price point again since the printer has announced they will be raising their printing and shipping prices some time this year. Until the campaign ends, the bundle is locked in at that price.

Even if we get our Amazon publishers account back, this is less than you’d pay on Amazon for the same bundle. (Still no word about our account yet, so we’re still in limbo.) If you like physical books, this is an economical option.

If you just want the ebooks, we have all 7 ebooks for $35. So there’s something for everyone.

That’s all I’ve got for today. Next week, we return to our regularly scheduled newsletter. Before I go, I want to leave you with my favorite quote from Void Spells:

“Fictional characters never really die. When one reader finishes their book, another begins it, and they live again.”

I love it so much, it’s in gold foil on the back of the special edition hardcover for Curse Breaker’s Companion Books 3-4.

Who said that to me in Void Spells? You’ll have to read the book to find out.

Whether you choose to read my story, or someone else’s, read a story this week, so the characters can live again. That’s the true magic of reading.

Thank you for being part of my story! It means the world to me and my scribe, Melinda.
