Big Life Changes & New Books Coming Your Way: What I’ve Been Working On

Hi again, this is Melinda, your scribe. I wanted to take a moment to sit down and share what’s been going on with me recently—both in my personal life and in my creative work. The last few months have been a rollercoaster. I lost my father in September, and my family’s been adjusting to life without him. On top of that, my day job’s changed drastically after my boss left, and as of December, the company I work for was bought out, which has added even more uncertainty to my schedule. Despite all of this upheaval, writing continues to be … Continue reading Big Life Changes & New Books Coming Your Way: What I’ve Been Working On

Why Everyone’s Talking About Robin of Larkspur

Hi! The Robin of Larkspur Kickstarter campaign is off to an exciting start! I wanted to take a moment today to share more about why this series is so special and share more of the first chapter. (Yes, this is Melinda again. Ran decided I should continue writing to you as me until the Kickstarter ends or he changes his mind, whichever comes first. He says he would complain about Robin getting all the attention right now, but she deserves it. So he’ll save that for another email. I promised him more books, and that made him happy, and me … Continue reading Why Everyone’s Talking About Robin of Larkspur

Will you bring her to life?

It’s finally happening! The Kickstarter for the Robin of Larkspur series is now live, and I couldn’t be more excited to share this dream project with you. This is Melinda again, Ran is mad because the printing costs went up for everything again, but I didn’t up the prices on the Kickstarter. Thankfully, cost stayed the same. Why am I not passing the increased costs onto you? I don’t feel comfortable charging more even though Ran says I should. They are beautiful books, but are they pretty enough to justify the increase? Ran says yes, and he pointed out several … Continue reading Will you bring her to life?

How many stars should we give?

Hi, it’s time to look back at 2024. I know everyone else did that weeks ago, but when have we ever done what everyone else is doing? Never! This is Ran, Sarn’s chatty son and sidekick from the Curse Breaker series, and it’s time for our annual review of the Scribe! I don’t know if other characters review their scribes and score them from 1-5 stars but we try to review Melinda every year. Why do we do this? How will we know what the scribe needs to improve on in the coming year if we don’t review the work … Continue reading How many stars should we give?

Don’t Anger the Dragon

Hi, Chasing Dragons published last week, but you can still grab a copy at all retailers. And now, I’ll just walk away and let you enjoy the last part of our preview without interruption. Chasing Dragons by Melinda Kucsera Chapter 2, part 2 It was worth a shot, so Jerlo quit antagonizing Thing, even though that OwlCat’s admission that he didn’t like dangerous situations kindled a smidge of satisfaction in his breast. Jerlo had no such aversion. He thrived on danger, and it was time he started acting like it. Yes, his mind had a few holes, but navigating difficult … Continue reading Don’t Anger the Dragon

Let the chase begin!

Hi, Chasing Dragons publishes today! And we’d also like to wish my scribe’s dad a happy birthday in heaven. He died in Sept 2024 while Melinda was writing this book, so it’s dedicated to his memory and to all the fathers out there raising little adventurers and mages like me. As always, this is Ran, Sarn’s son from the Curse Breaker series writing on behalf of my introvert scribe and my even more introverted father. Do you see a pattern here? Anyways, I promised Melinda I wouldn’t prattle on too long. So now I’ll be good and wish you again … Continue reading Let the chase begin!
