What the firefighter said

Hi, Buckle up fair readers because a lot happened this week! But first some quick book news! I’m Ran, your friendly fictional host and I am also the son of the curse breaker. So what trouble did I get into this week? I know you’re wondering, and I won’t keep you in suspense any longer. This past week started out with someone banging on my scribe’s door at 9 pm in the evening. Was it an early trick or treater? No, nothing so fun as that. The knocker came with a warning. There was a fire in my scribe’s apartment … Continue reading What the firefighter said

Stuff Your eReader and fill your digital shelves!

Hi again! I know, you don’t usually see me twice in one week in your inbox, but here I am! And I’m back to entertain you. Who am I? I’m Ran, and I’m the sunny, talkative son of the quietest and the most magical character, a really nice guy named Sarn. He’s gets a little lost in social situations, and I have to rescue him. But then he repays the favor and saves me from all kinds of magical problems and monsters in the Curse Breaker Series. And you can grab the first book for free as part of the … Continue reading Stuff Your eReader and fill your digital shelves!

There and Back Again

Hi, your favorite fantasy character is back! I know what you’re thinking. “But Ran, isn’t this your newsletter? So how can you be back when you never actually left?” And that’s a really good point. But it’s not really my newsletter. Technically, this newsletter belongs to my scribe. Unfortunately, the only interesting thing she does is write about me and my family. So that’s why I took over many years ago. I’ve said this before, and I’ll probably say it a lot more. I only exist when you read my stories. The same goes for Papa and all the characters … Continue reading There and Back Again

The Rogues Return

Hi This week, I have good news for a change. Gateway to Hell publishes tomorrow! If you forgot, here’s what it’s about: A vengeful ex-god, a heist gone wrong, and a plot to open a gateway to Hell collide in a twisty epic fantasy adventure. When an ex-god steals a spell from a library in Hell, he kicks off a chain reaction that splits the timeline and leads demons to invade Earth. Only an unlikely hero who’s in over her head stands between the remnants of humanity and the end of the world. But she remembers two different versions of … Continue reading The Rogues Return

Rough days and Write Nights

Hi and welcome back! It feels like a long time since we talked since we sent last week’s newsletter on Sunday instead of Monday. Occasionally, we have to do that when we participate in big things. But we’re back to our regular schedule now, and new podcast episodes start on Oct 5. So that’s exciting. (As always, this is Ran, the son of the Curse Breaker, and probably his biggest fan since he is my father. And now back to my update!) There was some upheaval at Melinda’s (my scribe’s) day job unrelated to my father’s death that led to … Continue reading Rough days and Write Nights

Hacked and Slashed

Hi I hope you are having a good September, and I hope we all have a good October. Right now, the hits keep coming. Buckle up because it’s been a crazy week. Last week, my scribe, Melinda, (she typed this newsletter for me. I just pace around her small apartment and talk at her, and she kindly types for me. Actually, this week, I jumped up and down on the new cushy mats she got for the kitchen since they are a not far behind her chair. Who am I? Hi there! I’m Ran, the sunny child from Curse Breaker … Continue reading Hacked and Slashed

What did he do to impress the man?

Hi and welcome back! It’s been a rough week for the Scribe with so many arrangements still to be made. There’s a lot of paperwork involved when someone leaves this life and many details that someone needs to handle. It’s sad work, but necessary. So she muddles through as best as she can. Melinda said goodbye to her father on Wednesday at probably the weirdest church service ever. (This isn’t just my opinion. The other attendees agreed.) What was so weird? Well, it wasn’t the date. The funeral mass took place on Sept. 11, which is still a big thing … Continue reading What did he do to impress the man?

We’re taking you on an adventure

Hey, Before we set off on our quest to catch the scribe, I have some updates for you. First, this is the last week to get copies of the illustrated Rogue Gods Trilogy. Late pledges end on Saturday, Sept 1. The Scribe is still struggled to end Rogue Gift, book 5 of the Robin of Larkspur series. But the characters don’t want it to end, so they aren’t cooperating. No change there since last week. It looks like it’ll be battle to the end. No surprise there. Melinda made some progress on the Robin of Larkspur special editions this past … Continue reading We’re taking you on an adventure

Books so shiny, you’ll want to pet them!

Hey, Another week begins! And guess what? We got the final proofs for the Rogue Gods Trilogy and they are so pretty! The post delivery person threw the box at the door, startling my scribe, so that wasn’t so great. But the books were packed so well, they were absolutely perfect despite the delivery person hurling the box they were in like it was a shot put or a javelin. They should practice for the 2028 olympic trials with their own mail, not ours! The books survived this abuse and they are gorgeous! The printer upgraded their machines and possibly … Continue reading Books so shiny, you’ll want to pet them!

Take home some gold too!

Hey, It’s been an Olympic week and your favorite characters have been watching clips of the various events because the scribe wouldn’t pay for a streaming service so we could watch it in real time. Congratulations to all the athletes for qualifying for the Olympics! Whether you medalled or not, you’re all amazing. And do you know what else is amazing? Book news! We didn’t get a gold medal, but we have gold foil on our books, so that counts as gold, right? And you can get some bling for your bookcase by ordering a copy of the illustrated edition … Continue reading Take home some gold too!
