Captured – Curse Breaker
~ ~ ~
Captured by tree roots,
dragged away from Rangers grim;
the forest wants him.
~ ~ ~
“Look out!”
Sarn halted. He heard a ripping sound followed by scrabbling and lots of shouts. None of that made sense. His hearing was damaged in one ear and that damage garbled some of the warnings.
“Get down Kid!”
“Someone grab the Kid and get him down!”
Someone slammed into Sarn and bore him to the ground. Something else wrapped around his forearm and yanked on it, dragging him a man length in the leaves.
Read the rest in Curse Breaker: Enchanted today:
After an enchanted tree abducts Sarn, he’s thrust into a mystery revolving around a double homicide. Can Sarn protect his son, keep his masters happy and help the dead boy haunting him?
Look inside to find out. Read the first 15 chapters for free.
Now this got a bit scary and hectic. Poor Sarn has really had a rough time.

Yes he does but he always lands on his feet. It just sometimes takes him awhile. Thank you 🙂

Great action, Melinda. For a second I was reminded of the Whomping Willoewin Harry Potter, only this one seems far meaner.

Thank you! I need to reread Harry Potter. I don’t recall the Whomping Willoewin. We’ll see if the trees are mean or not 🙂 Right now, they want Sarn’s attention.

You are welcome. I think they have it now 🙂

I’d say so 🙂 It’s not like they can walk up and ask him to come along quietly right? Sarn, being Sarn, would balk at that anyway. Better to perform a snatch and grab. 😉

Warrior trees!! That’s great! This is like a soap opera that’s good but it keeps you coming back for more!

😀 that makes me so happy to know that! I wanted to publish the entire first book by the anniversary of my sister’s death but I’ve been working too much unpaid overtime these last few months and I still haven’t written those three missing chapters…I’m now hoping to publish book one by my birthday in early March.

Goal dates may change but as long as the goal is still there that’s what is important!

Oh!!! What just happened?? Why did the tree moved??? Your desecription about them crept me out. They are indeed humongous!
Looking forward to more action, Mel! ❤

Thank you! The forest around Mount Eredren where Sarn lives is enchanted; so it’s got a mind of its own. We’ll see soon what it has in mind 🙂

I liked the action and the movement between scenes. The only suggestion is increase the showing – like at the start with Sarn’s hearing being damaged. You didn’t have to tell the reader that it was damaged as we would have gathered that from your previous sentences. Just a suggestion.
Asides from that interesting story and look forward to more. 🙂

Thank you for your feedback. I had shone his hearing difficulties in an earlier part of this story. I didn’t want to take time away from the action to do it again here but I am rethinking that now. I do hope you will have a chance to read the 10 parts that preceded this one, there are things in there that will be become important as the story continues. You can find all the parts in order on its TOC page:
