The Seven Virtues of Senryu:
Temperance
I am taking on the seven cardinal virtues in a senryu rumble. I couldn’t reach my blogging partner in crime, so I’m going it alone. Wish me luck! Salvation, here I come! You better be ready to greet me at journey’s end.

Temperance
Honor your promise
Bind your eyes, hold your scales high
Abstain from vile acts
Against opinion
Stand tree-firm amid the gale
Let lies not sway you
Hold truth in your hand
Don’t let it flow into lies
Drip in collusion
Set pyres for justice
Burn away the illusion
Leave behind the real

“hold truth in your hands . . . Burn away the illusion” a call for justice to blind to. Be truthful. And for everyone to not lie. Well done ladies!
Thank you, actually this wasn’t a collaboration. This was a solo effort. But thank you 🙂
Oh sorry. Amazing solo effort! 😀
Thanks 🙂
Good work lovely poetess. You have done such a great job with this series.
Thank you 🙂 Would you believe it was harder to write about the virtues than their sin counterpart?
Interesting.
😀
Each verse is so powerful, Mel – usually I can pick a fave but not today. Love this series, love your writing 🙂
Thank you 🙂 now I have to top this series…no pressure right? 😉
Honesty is so important to me. This sings for me!
I am with you on that! Honesty is important to me too.
More great wisdom. More daily mantras for me. Cannot pick a single favorite verse this time. All 4 absolute gems. But yes, like Rosema, I’m a little inclined towards having no preconceived notions. Your words are replete with wisdom that everyone is taught but very few follow. Wonderful, Mel!
Thank you 🙂 While writing this series, I had a Zen master sitting in the back of my mind delivering these nuggets of wisdom. I don’t know where he came from but i am glad he moved into my head space for the days it took to compose these 🙂
Great master. Greater pupil! 🙂
Thanks 🙂
Absolutely loved this!! It is perfect both in concept and in creativity! You are one talented writer my friend!
Lovely!
🙂
Thank you 🙂 I was a bit worried about this series. It was harder to write than their sin counterpart.
I am going to have to read the counterpart now 🙂
when you have time, there is no hurry and you have such a lovely family 🙂
🙂 thank you!!!!! this is the best compliment ever! <3
Oh Mel! This one is screaming truths and warning.
“Against opinion
Stand tree-firm amid the gale
Let lies not sway you”
Flawless!
Thank you! It’s fierce no? 😉
Yeah! Not actually, fierce. F-I-E-R-C-E! HAHA
Even better! 😀
