The Seven Virtues of Senryu:
Fortitude
I am taking on the seven cardinal virtues in a senryu rumble. I couldn’t reach my blogging partner in crime, so I’m going it alone. Wish me luck! Salvation, here I come! You better be ready to greet me at journey’s end.

Fortitude
Persist–take one step
Let the steps crack under you
Just take that next step
Endure the tempest
Ignore its swirling, cold winds
All storms in time
Hold back flood waters
Life surges, pushes on you
Dig your heels in, stand
Fire rings round you
Trials that come to smoke and ash
Press on despite all

Well done, my friend. You hit the mark perfectly and your senryu are awesome!
Thank you 🙂 I’m wondering where to go from here. I did the 7 deadlies and the 7 virtues, what else is there? How do I top this? I’m open to suggestions!
I wrote a piece called Love’s Decalogue, based on the ten commandments, you could put your spin on those stone tablet etches?
oh wow I hadn’t thought of that. That’s a great idea. Thank you! I will check out your poem 🙂
I hope you enjoy and look forward to perhaps reading your take on it 🙂

Amen! Thank you for the reminder, dear! Especially this one:
“Hold back flood waters
Life surges, pushes on you
Dig your heels in, stand”
You’re welcome and thank you for reading my little series. 🙂 I love that one too. That’s the image in my head when life starts to get tough. I imagine myself standing firm in its flow refusing to budge.
That is true. Those words can really be a great reminder.
They are for me 🙂
Now for me too. 😀
