We hit #100!

Hey,

It’s your favorite character back again. At least I hope I’m your favorite character. This is Ran, Sarn’s son from the Curse Breaker series. I’m back with a writing update.

Melinda is finishing Rogue Rescue. At least we hope that’s what’s happening. The characters keep telling her it’s the last chapter. But then they do things that are not last chapter things and instead, telling her at the end of the chapter that they need one more chapter to tie up the loose ends. Melinda keeps believing them and writing one more chapter for them.

when I asked her why she’s letting them get away with that, she said she’s still mad at the characters in the Rogue Gods trilogy for tricking her. You see, she wrote book one of the Rogue Gods trilogy thinking it would be a standalone book that explained the wild twist Rogue Rescue took and why so many ex-gods showed up in a book that wasn’t supposed to have any.

But the characters from the Rogue Gods trilogy decided not to answer that question in book 1. So she had to write a sequel. They started to answer it at the end of book 2 and then wouldn’t you know it?

They pulled a cliffhanger, and now she needs to write a third book making the standalone story she thought she was writing into a trilogy. So Melinda is still mad about that because she wanted to get back to writing Curse Breaker books about me and my dad.

So that’s you’re writing update. There’s a lot of drama behind the scenes, and there’s even more I haven’t told you about because it would spoil the books. But Melinda’s adding a chapter at the end of each book detailing all the shenanigans that went on behind the scenes, so you will get all the tea. But it won’t be spilled in this newsletter so we don’t spoil things too much.

Melinda hopes to start the third book in the Rogue Gods trilogy next week. she doesn’t think they can keep pulling that ‘oh but we need one more chapter for this reason’ card. We’ll see who’s right and who’s wrong next week.

Did I egg the characters on?

Surprisingly, no, this time, it’s not me urging them to get one more chapter. Usually, it is me, but not for these books. I only do that for Curse Breaker books. But my next books are waiting in the writing queue for all this madness with the rogue gods to finish. Then the scribe is all mine!

*Insert evil laughter here even though I’m not an evil character.*

So you might not just see me as either a baby or an adult this year. You might see me the loveable kid that stole your heart this year too.

My amazing plan to get more page time might be working! And you thought I was crazy to use a newsletter to apply for more books.

In other news, Melinda recorded episode 99 and 100 our podcast this past weekend!

What started as a way to learn the art of audiobook narration now boasts 60+ interviews with indie fantasy authors in addition to 20+ chapters of Curse Breaker Enchanted narrated by our scribe.

So that’s exciting!

Episode 99 features Christopher D. Schmitz. He joining us to talk about his book, A Kiss of Daggers.

Episode 100 features Joshua Blum. He joined us to talk about his book, Empty Hands.

And there’s more to come in the weeks to come. If you haven’t listened yet, now’s a great time to start since there are now 100 episodes to entertain you!

That’s not all, our scribe took off her host hat and through a mysterious magical transformational process, became a guest on another podcast this week! We don’t have links to that one yet, since it was recorded on Saturday.

But we do have links to a podcast episode featuring Melinda that was recorded last year. She was invited to join Frey on Fraya’s Fairytales several months ago, and the episode just went live after last week’s newsletter went out. You can listen to that episode now.

And if you’ve been wondering what books to read to prepare for the biggest crossover we’ve embarked on so far, I’ve got you covered. Here are the books that directly precede the books involved in the crossover:

And no, I’m not shoehorning that last one in there because I want you to read about my exploits.

Well, I do want that, but that’s not my only reason. This book sets up part of the problem since the sequel handles the fallout from the Rogue Gods crossover. More on that next time!

You can read 3 of the books involved in the crossover and get all the tea about what happened behind the scenes right now on our Patreon. Plus, you’ll get copies months before anyone else.

Have a great week! I hope it’s full of fun fantasy books, and extra points if that book mentions me!
