Breaking up a book is hard to do

I hope all the mothers had a happy Mother’s Day yesterday and enjoyed the recipe last week. It’s not something we do often since we’re more likely to create a kitchen nightmare than a culinary treat.

The Scribe lives on soup and salad for a reason. (They’re easy to prepare and hard to ruin.) But every so often, the Scribe gets something right. Usually, that something involves chocolate,

But enough about that. Let’s talk about books, specifically our next one, Curse Breaker Trapped.

We’re breaking it up. Trapped has grown into an unwieldy beast, and that’s after the Scribe moved 10 chapters to a file called ‘I need these to go somewhere.’ Those chapters set up important things we need or continue a character’s arc or flesh out why something is happening.

And Curse Breaker Trapped was a bit choppy without them, so I’m glad they’re coming back. Curse Breaker Trapped will be a well-rounded story now since we’re moving half of it to Curse Breaker Revealed, which will be the sequel to Curse Breaker Trapped. Curse Breaker Jousts will now the sequel to Curse Breaker Revealed now, not Curse Breaker Trapped as we previously stated everywhere. Oops.

Well, these things happen when Scribes try to cram two full-length books into one.

I don’t want to push this book back any more than necessary, but I feel like there are some specific things you’re hoping to see, and I want to make sure Curse Breaker Trapped and Curse Breaker Revealed deliver them. I want all the reveals and all the feels!

How did this breakup happen?

Well, I pulled up my big character pants (they’re Papa’s, so I could pull them all the way up to my chin if I wanted) and hashed it out with the Scribe yesterday. I know yesterday was Mother’s Day, but our books don’t stop just because it’s a holiday. (The Scribe has no kids that aren’t fictional anyway.)

It turns out she wasn’t happy leaving out some things or putting them in other books where they don’t belong. So we talked about splitting Curse Breaker Trapped into two books and pulling out all the stops because we’d have space for that now.

And that’s what we’ll be focusing on this week. Where do we put back the scenes that were taken out? Which scenes need to be written or expanded to enrich the story because we now have room?

What does all this mean for you, our dear reader?

It means not one but two books are coming your way this summer instead of one!

What are the details?

We don’t have dates yet because we just made this decision and started implementing it, but it’s possible Curse Breaker Trapped could release sometime in June, and Curse Breaker Revealed could come out sometime in July. But we won’t put them on pre-order until we’re sure. We should know for sure soon.

To thank our patrons for their support, we’ll continue posting chapters from both books, and you’ll receive a copy of each book two weeks before the books are available in stores.

And of course, there will be AI narrated audiobooks. They’re not perfect, but we believe in accessibility, and this is the only affordable solution we’ve found for that. We will have AI narrated audiobooks ready for both books, so they will be on sale when the books are.

Speaking of Patreon, we sent out two rewards this week to our Patreons. Everyone who joined last month (April) received a copy of Reluctant Heroes 1-10  and Curse Breaker Books 1-6 because both came out last month and I said so. I’m one of the characters they are supporting, so I get to make such decisions. 🙂

We are so thankful they are part of our fantasy adventure! If you’d like to read advanced chapters, book news as it happens, vote on the next books our Scribe writes, read notes from Ran, get thanked in our next book, get copies of our books and boxed sets before anyone else, then join our community of fantasy readers on Patreon.
