Hi Readers!
Your favorite characters and our Scribe have had a busy week. Let’s dive into it!
First off, Books by Adrian, a YouTuber and soon-to-be author, interviewed our Scribe. Most of the questions were author-focused, not book focused, so you know more about what’s going on with us and our books than anyone who watched the program.
Pat yourself on the back for being up to date on all the latest tea starring us. (This is Ran, Sarn’s son and sidekick, and your newsletter host.)
I have more tea to spill because Robin and our Scribe butted heads again this week, and I had a front row seat for it. You know I took notes, so I have receipts to share! I’ll get to that in a moment.
Melinda released another podcast episode where she finally read chapters 11 & 12 of Curse Breaker Enchanted. So that’s exciting. Well, it is for me because we just crossed the 25% percent point, meaning there is only 75% of the book left to narrate.
This gives me hope that we will finally have a human-narrated book in 2023. Only 19 more books to go until we have them all narrated by both humans and AIs.
We still like our AI-narrated audiobooks, but some people don’t like them. So we need a human-narrated version, but the Scribe is working on that.
And now, it’s time to talk about the drama of the week!
You can probably guess who’s causing all the drama. That’s right. It’s Robin from the book series that bears her name, and you’re starting to see why her third book took 3 years to write. She and the Scribe fight about everything.
Melinda is very protective of certain characters. You can guess who or I could tell you that me and Papa are top that list. We’re both in Rogue Ranger, but I only have an itty-bitty part so far. Papa has a lot more page time, and Shade too. Yes, Shade is just as shady as you hope, if not more so.
What did Robin do now?
When I mentioned this drama a few weeks ago, I told you that Robin was doing things against the rules of our world, and she wrote this post explaining why. Since then, Robin posted the chapter that breaks our rules here, the second chapter here, the third one here, and the fourth one here.
But wait, there’s more! And I have video proof!
Robin went on camera and declared her book’s intensions in a short, 15-second video here. I’m kind of jealous. That was a bold move.
If you haven’t read her first 2 books, (Hunter’s Night and Rogue Night) I would get on that because Robin’s third book (Rogue Ranger) will be a wild ride. Start reading it for as little as $2 on our Patreon.
The book will probably publish sometime in January 2023, Rogue Rescue in February 2023, and Rogue Gift sometime in March of 2023, assuming of course that Robin makes it to her sequels.
I offered for Papa to take over as main character. He’s much more reasonable, but Melinda said no. She’s writing this series as a tribute to her Mom and all mothers, so she’ll battle it out with Robin.
(Robin wasn’t supposed to be this difficult. Maybe she’ll settle down when her books stop being prequels for the Curse Breaker series, and go their own way. That will happen after book 5, Rogue Gift. Yes, that flashback sequence in Curse Breaker Hidden featuring Robin will happen in Rogue Gift. Melinda wants to get that book out to close that story loop and give it context.)
Rogue Ranger will be an interesting book if this keeps up, and I’m not mad about that.
