Your Host Returns and Ousts That Dragon

Hi Readers,

It’s Ran, your usual host. (I’m the son of the Curse Breaker, a nice magical guy named Sarn. Together, we star in the Curse Breaker series of books. More on that in a bit.)

Now that we have that out of the way, we need to talk about what happened last week, specifically about what that dragon did. If you forgot, it’s okay. I’ll recap the events of last week for you, But if you want all the details, pop over to our website and read the newsletter she sent for yourself here.

What did the Newsletter-Dragon do?

1) she set up a sale which is actually a good thing. I can’t believe I just said she did something good. Don’t tell her that please it’ll swell her ego, and we don’t want that. The results could be dangerous.

Curse Breaker Enchanted will be free August 5-9th. Mark your calendars.

The following books will be 99 cents or 99p if you’re across the pond from August 5-12:

We made a cool graphic to show off the sale. 🙂
  • 30 of the 38 chapters in His Angelic Keeper Fallen (book #3 in the series) are published on Patreon and Kindle Vella as of this morning. (What’s Kindle Vella? Read our explanation here.)

2) she took over my newsletter. Okay, technically, this newsletter belongs to our scribe, but we characters run it, not her. Melinda knows what we’re doing and supports our efforts, but this is our newsletter because it’s about our books.

Since we’re fictional characters, we only exist when you read our stories, so that’s our goal for every newsletter: to persuade you to read our books.

It’s a matter of survival for us. I don’t know if it’s a matter of survival for the Newsletter-Dragon since she’s technically not a character. (That dragon delivers our newsletter each week, so she does play a role in this newsletter other than serving as my nemesis.)

Yes, she probably read this before delivering it. We’ll find out what her reaction was next week unless that dragon takes over my reminder email about the sale. Knock on wood that doesn’t happen.

And the third thing she did was just uncalled for. What was it?

A few weeks ago, there was a snake in the laundry area of our scribe’s building, and Papa and I valiantly went to deal with the situation, so our scribe could keep writing. The more Melinda writes; the more books there are to read, and the more chances we have to interest you in reading about us. The more you read, the more real we become. So keeping her writing is a matter of utmost important to us, and we take it very seriously.

For that reason, Papa and I left Melinda’s apartment to do battle with the snake that was menacing her neighbors, and what did that snake do?

Aside from talking to us, which was a weird but not as weird as some other things we’ve encountered in our own world. Remember, we’re fictional characters from an Epic fantasy world. So talking snakes aren’t that exciting for us.

At home, we have enchanted trees that walk and talk. When you compare that to a talking snake, the talking tree is more impressive. And an army of trees is a lot more dangerous than a talking snake because they have lots of sharp branches they can skewer you with.

They wouldn’t skewer me because I’m an adorable child who would never break any of their rules, but they might stab other people if they anger the forest. (If you visit Shayari, make sure you follow its three rules.)

You’d have to ask Papa if forest has ever hurt anyone. He doesn’t tell me these things, and I’m not sure I want to know. But I digress. Let’s get back that snake.

As Papa walked outside holding the snake behind its head, so it couldn’t bite him, do you know what happened?

If you read last week’s newsletter, than you know the snake transformed into the Newsletter-Dragon!

I want to know how she got out of cyberspace (where she lives) and into our world again. She did this in our book Dragon Spells, but Bear will show you exactly what that dragon did in the opening chapters of Rogue Spells which is coming to Patreon then to Kindle Villa and finally to ebook when it’s done.

I have to wait until then to find out how she did it. I’ll have more info in the coming weeks because I want to know how that happened. Early chapters will be coming soon, very soon if I have my way.

But first, I want to know:

Who let the dragon out?

I’ve noticed a pattern. People write in asking about the Newsletter-Dragon. Then she mysteriously shows up a week or two later.

Who invited her this time? Because it wasn’t me.

If you or someone you know invited the Newsletter-Dragon to takeover my newsletter, now is the time to confess. Just hit reply and tell me why.

I can handle the truth. But the wondering might drive me crazy. Save me from wondering, please!

Have a great week. We’ll be back in your inbox on August 5 or 6 to remind you about the sale and maybe we’ll have the dragon’s reaction by then. Anything’s possible in a fantasy newsletter.
