Interrogating Magical Creatures

Hi Readers, Last week, Papa, Melinda (aka our scribe), and I (Ran, son of Sarn, your lovable narrator) tried to escape a bad storm. A giant bunny with a basket of shiny eggs showed up and picked a fight with Bear. Yes, that Bear—my stuffed companion and our all-around cryptic Ghost Bear. You remember him from Curse Breaker: Faceted, right? Once the fight ended, I asked some hard questions. So without further ado, let’s get back to that. I *really* want to know the answers and this time, I might get them. Fictional Characters vs the Nor’easter Easter Bunny? (Part 2) … Continue reading Interrogating Magical Creatures

Bear vs the Easter Bunny

Hi Readers, The cast of the Curse Breaker series + our scribe, Melinda, would like to wish you a belated happy Passover, Easter and any other holidays we may have missed. Now back to our continuing adventure. When we last saw our heroes, Bear had just shown up, but he wasn’t very helpful. (If you need a refresher, check out part one, part two, part three and part four. I’ll wait.) Who will prevail—your favorite duo and their hapless scribe or the Easter Bunny? 0_o Where did he come from? Fictional Characters vs the Nor’easter Easter Bunny? Bear jumped, and … Continue reading Bear vs the Easter Bunny

We’re Boxed in! Free us now.

Hi Readers! We’re boxed in by this guy and his sidekick son 😉  Yes, our first ever boxed set is live. Get your copy here. It features the first four books of the Curse Breaker series in one electronic file. Auntie Sovvan still refuses to comment on her activities between Enchanted (book 1) and Falls (book 4), but we have a book in the works to chronicle what “heavenly business” kept her busy. It’s coming this summer. Now back to our continuing adventure. When we last saw our heroes, Papa had worked some impressive magic and it took its toll.  (If you … Continue reading We’re Boxed in! Bad Character

I’ve been a bad character. While my scribe was at work yesterday, I popped into an author group on Facebook and there was this post asking authors to “drop” a link to their newsletter sign-up page. All the comments went something like this: Hi there, sign up for my newsletter and get a free book. [Link] Boring. So I had a little fun. Hey, my scribe left me unsupervised with internet access. I’m not responsible for my actions. Papa should have been watching me instead of going for a run in the windy cold. So I posted this to liven … Continue reading Bad Character

Belated Birthdays and Blue Flames tried to stop us.

Hi Readers, Thank you for joining us for our continuing Nor’easter Adventure. Who will prevail–a bunch of lovable fictional characters or the storm? Read on to find out but before you do, the cast (and by the cast I mean me, Ran, your lovable host,) would like to wish our hardworking scribe a belated happy birthday. We forgot to announce that during last week’s excitement, but on the actual day, March 10, we turned out in force to demand she write our books instead of creating a culinary disaster. Well, we tried. Said disaster is sitting in the trash and … Continue reading Belated Birthdays and Blue Flames tried to stop us.

Some Angels Fall before they Fly

Hi Readers! Here’s your first look at some cover concepts for His Angelic Keeper. The book stars Sovvan, the sister and angel-in-training of my Papa. In it, Sovvan kicks butt, *borrows* swords, annoys angels and generally gets into mayhem as she tries to save her brother (my Papa). Somehow Auntie Sovvan found time during all that craziness to convince Heaven to give her a chance and a set of training wings. His Angelic Keeper takes place in between Curse Breaker: Enchanted and Curse Breaker: Falls.  So here’s your first look. — Ran, son of Sarn, “cover promoter” Continue reading Some Angels Fall before they Fly

First Look – Curse Breaker: Sundered

Here’s a draft of the cover for Curse Breaker: Sundered. We’re going for the ‘it’s on,’ ‘bring it,’ ‘no holds barred’ kind of look because it’s most definitely on. Papa might be without his magic for the first time in his life, but he’s not letting that stop him. And I’ll be there, his one and only son and sidekick. I have the cuteness angle covered. He’s handling the plans and shouldering the fate of everything because he’s got the shoulders for it. 😉 This is not final yet. We have to get ahold of our scribe’s credit card to … Continue reading First Look – Curse Breaker: Sundered

When Angels Take Over, the Feathers Fly!

Hi Readers, We hope you enjoyed our funny Valentine’s Day adventure, Curse Breaker: Shops. If you missed any of the mayhem, you can read it here. No, this isn’t Ran. He’s a softly snoring lump under a blue-and-white crocheted blanket right now. (Said blanket is a tad lopsided.) Our scribe is a better writer than a crocheter, but every once in a while, she picks up a crochet hook and gives it a go. The results are soft but uneven. Ran seems to like it, so that’s what matters, right? So, who am I? Well, I’m not teenage Ran, or ‘Future Ran’ … Continue reading When Angels Take Over, the Feathers Fly!

Shards for his Present – Final Cover?

First look…or are we on the second look? Hmmm…I should know this since I count something in every book. Here’s the final cover for Shards for his Present–at least I hope it’s the final because I bought the artwork and our scribe might have trouble paying her mortgage because of that, but I digress…isn’t the cover cool? The print version may need to be slightly different because the cool dude with a sword isn’t high enough resolution for print. But I’ll let my scribe handle that. — Ran, son of Sarn, “Heralder of Covers” SHARDS FOR HIS PRESENT (A Curse Breaker … Continue reading Shards for his Present – Final Cover?

Curse Breaker Shops – Our Funny Valentine’s Day Adventure

TL;DR
– We fought a scary dude for our Scribe in a grocery store. Roses, bears, produce, and magic flew in this humorous take on Valentine’s Day.
– Curse Breaker: Darkens & Curse Breaker: Faceted are on sale for $0.99 until our Scribe discovers the sale. (Don’t tell her!)
– For a limited time, you can get our entire series for under $5.

Why you shouldn’t bring your fictional child to work

Hi Readers, This is your scribe speaking. I don’t often commandeer my own newsletter. Each week, I love seeing what Ran comes up with, but this week really hit me hard. So I’m sidelining Ran this week. Sorry, hun. Okay, now he’s making puppy eyes at me. Fictional characters are so needy. Okay, kiddo, you can speak up at the end. Yes, I promise. Okay, now back to my note. Every February, I remember my sister, Carolyn. In February 1998, she nearly died from diabetes. Carolyn was 14. She struggled for the next sixteen years to live with her diagnosis … Continue reading Why you shouldn’t bring your fictional child to work
