Come walk with us under the moon, up a mountain path into nature’s magic. Majestic fortress Snowcapped with white purity Kisses the blue sky Snow-crowned peak sparkling My tears like diamonds falling Freezing on my skin Moon touches the peak Silver light on its pine skirt Alpine wonderland The wind blows gently As I shiver from its strength My heart … Continue reading Moon’s Mountain

Some Kind of Monster

We check for monsters. Under the bed, we saw eyes– our eyes reflected. Our monstrousness caught– visible in mirror shard– trapped under our skin. Hold your cross up dear, whisper prayers, “deliver us–” our evil’s within. Cross glows, burns our hands– drop it, spin as it falls down, lands on mirror shards. Seven years’ bad luck, blood drips down hands from the blow– shattered mirror mocks. Caught sanity’s flash, fired like gunshots in the dark but missed its target. Monster within laughs, extends its claws to snuff out– the good in us, gone. Luke Skywalker lied. Light saber cold in our hands We’re … Continue reading Some Kind of Monster

Curse Breaker | Consolation

Curse Breaker | Consolation “You want to hear a story?” Sarn asked his son. Ran nodded, surprised at the offer. Usually Miren read him stories since Miren could read and Sarn couldn’t. So pleased was Ran by this offer that he didn’t see the trap it represented. He accepted his stuffed bear and snuggled as close he could to his father, despite the layers of cloth muffling him, believing that he’d gotten his way. Sarn fought a smile and lost, at least he’d done one thing right tonight. “Let me tell you about Shayari’s Queen.” Read the rest in Curse … Continue reading Curse Breaker | Consolation

Hanging by a moment

Hanging by a Moment ~ ~ ~ Hung by a moment– suspended from fleeting clouds– the ground anchors me. ~ ~ ~ My head’s in the clouds. Imagination’s strings lift– I float, par’dise found. ~ ~ ~ Reality pulls– against dreams’ strings, tugs me down– so gravity wins. ~ ~ ~ Hanging by moments– clouds drift away without me– back to work I go. ~ ~ ~ For: Mindlovesmisery’s Menagerie Photo Challenge 104 & the Daily Post’s “Fleeting.” Continue reading Hanging by a moment

Listening Objects

Listening Objects ~ ~ ~ Listening objects fill dreams of the present where words shine and transform. ~ ~ ~ They ease from flower to water to that other thing and are collected as sense. ~ ~ ~ Listening objects scattered on the ground have found sense made is sense lost. ~ ~ ~ So translations shift one word, two–the meaning’s through gone now that words don’t align. ~ ~ ~ Listening objects to talking fast without pause leaving me with one device too many–useless a hunk of junk now exiled. ~ ~ ~ For the Sunday Whirl #242  because this bit of nonsense … Continue reading Listening Objects

Curse Breaker | Defensive

Curse Breaker | Defensive   “You have to go back,” Miren said in a last ditch effort to drag his brother back to the discussion. Sarn gave his brother a slow nod indicating that he’d heard, not that he agreed with that statement. Though Miren had the right of it as usual. Sarn’s indentured state conferred no rights. He had to follow orders and those orders had not included a dismissal yet tonight. He wanted to stay here far away from people who treated him like an idiot, but… “No. Papa stays here and we have ad-ven-tures.” Ran gave … Continue reading Curse Breaker | Defensive

Curse Breaker | Homecoming

Curse Breaker | Homecoming “If you go back will you be in trouble?” “I—I don’t know.” Sarn had never gone awol before. He’d been an indentured servant to the Rangers for four years now and no Ranger had ever pulled a stunt like this. Not that he’d listened for any such stories. If a Ranger had pulled such a fool stunt, they never would have told him out of fear that he’d do it too. That didn’t bode well for him. Sarn ran a hand over his face. He hated trouble yet he couldn’t help falling victim to it at … Continue reading Curse Breaker | Homecoming

Drop by her site and be dazzled by her wit, amazed at the beautiful images she creates and swept away by her heartfelt words. Give Truth a Chance Same old same old, that’s what we hear them say Same old miserable lie every day So much we conceal behind this same old For once let’s break the superfluous mold Break the chains of your silence–speak your mind. Voice your heart’s truth–please don’t keep it confined. Let everyone know it’s not the same old thing everyday–let the … Continue reading Give Truth a Chance

Curse Breaker | Pursued

Curse Breaker | Pursued Vaulting from boulder to boulder, he crossed the white-capped river mere feet from the falls themselves. On the far shore, he broke into a run and hit the maze the rich had dubbed the Lower Quarters. Though squalor, even one with such a genteel moniker, was still rankest poverty. Reeking of urine, rotting food, and unwashed bodies, the stink grew stronger as Sarn fled the river and headed towards the galleries where the indentured dwelt. His footfalls echoed despite his attempts to run silently down twisting tunnels. He hurried, breaking off just before he reached one of … Continue reading Curse Breaker | Pursued
